Name: Kawai Hanako.
Age: 16.

Description: Hanako has long brown hair and brown eyes. She's fairly short (somewhere around 5'3") and a relatively healthy weight for her height. She sometimes puts her hair in braids. When not in uniform, she tends to wear cute dresses. Her played-by is Hanato Kobato from Kobato.

Personality: Hanako is, to put it kindly, ditzy and kind of lazy. That isn't to say she's stupid, because she isn't; she just lacks common sense to an extent. As for the laziness, this mostly applies to schoolwork. Oftentimes she won't apply herself as much as she could, doing barely enough to pass or maybe a bit more. This is why she hasn't moved up from Red yet, since when it comes to actually dueling she's probably on the level of most Ra Yellow students.

She's also usually very cheerful and friendly, possibly to the point where some might consider her annoying. She also doesn't believe in personal bubbles, so expect hugs. Of course, if she finds you don't like this, she will back off since she really isn't trying to piss people off. If you have a problem, she'll try to help, though this is quite likely to end up making the situation worse than before due to the fact she lacks common sense. At least she tries, right?

As a friend, she's a good listener, and you can generally trust her with secrets because she's prone to forget them five minutes after you tell her. If you're in trouble or someone is pissing you off, she'll generally go after them (unless you tell her not to, in which case she'll respect your wishes). This may or may not include trying to go after villains. I'm not sure yet. Part of me wants her to become an abuse magnet, so probably.

History: Born in Tokyo to a writer and a reporter, Hanako didn't see much of her parents when she was young, though they spent as much time with her as they could. She spent a lot of time playing with the other kids around her neighborhood. A few of them played the game of Duel Monsters, which interested her. At first she mainly made decks with all the cute monsters she could find, but she eventually figured out that cute wasn't enough to win, so she started actually thinking about what she put into her decks. Once she started putting forth an effort into deckbuilding and strategy, she proved to be rather good at the game. She and her family moved to Domino from Tokyo when she was about eight years old. She made new friends fairly quickly there and led a relatively normal life.

Her interest in dueling continued through junior high school, where she slept through a lot of her classes and dueled during her lunch breaks. One day, when she woke up from one of her naps, she could have sworn she saw one of her monsters floating in front of her. However, she dismissed this as a delusion due to her still being half-asleep at the time. These "delusions" became more frequent, especially near places like the arcade. They honestly scared her, but she didn't dare tell her parents for fear of what they might do.

One day, while she was walking home from school, Hanako was accosted by a couple of punks. She tried to fight them off with her patented Flail-Fu, which, predictably, wasn't any help. Then, something beat the crap out of the punks. Hanako, ever grateful, looked around for her savior and found... a cheerleader? It took a few moments for her to realize that standing before her was Freya, The Spirit of Victory. Freya explained to her that she was her "duel spirit" and that she would always do her best to protect her. Since then, Hanako and Freya have become good friends, despite being from drastically different worlds.

Hanako found out about Duel Academy from a flier posted up on the school's bulletin board. She managed to convince her parents to let her go there after she was done with junior high ("It's something I'm interested in, so I'm sure I'll do well!").

The dueling portion of the entrance exam went very well for Hanako. As for the written portion, what she finished of it was done fairly well, but she fell asleep about three-fourths of the way through the written portion. However, she still managed to get a high enough score to make it into Osiris Red.

Extra Abilities: Can see and sense duel spirits. Hers is Freya, The Spirit of Victory.
